Admissions: Procedure

Applicants will comply with Kansas Law, which states that a child must be five years of age on or before August 31 to enter kindergarten, six years of age on or before August 31 to enter grade one. All kindergartners must be evaluated before the first day of school and meet reasonable academic requirements. The student and the parents must be willing and able to abide by all policies and regulations as stated in the current Student / Parent Handbook. New students will be placed on a six-week academic and behavioral probation. At the end of the six-week time frame, a conference with the parents, teacher, principal and if deemed necessary, the student will be held to determine future status.

All children must present a state issued birth certificate and a baptismal certificate upon entering Sacred Heart Catholic School for the first time. A record of immunizations on the official Kansas Certification of Immunization form must be presented by all students upon entering any Kansas School for the first time. The students are also required to have a physical examination. All students are required by the State to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertusis (DPT).

At Sacred Heart we believe that quality education is invaluable to our students.

Tuition rates for the 2010-2011 school year are as follows:

In-Parish:
1 student $2725
2 students $4425
3 or more students $5575

Out-of-parish:
$4600 per student

Sacred Heart Parish subsidizes a significant portion of the budget for Sacred Heart School. Therefore, in order to receive the in-parish tuition rate, a family must have made a minimum annual contribution to the church plate of at least $1000 during the previous calendar year. This amount will be prorated for families who were not members of the parish for the entire year. Families not meeting this requirement will be charged the out-of-parish rate of $4600 per student which is the cost of educating one student. If situations arise that limit your ability to meet your tuition or tithing requirements, please contact Nick Antista or Fr. Craig to make alternate arrangements.

The Sacred Heart PTO will have two mandatory fundraisers during the 2010-2011 school year to help support the school budget. Families not wishing to actively participate and meet the required quota for these fundraisers may choose to pay a buy out fee, as determined by the PTO, for one or both fundraisers.

1 Installment: No Enrollment Fee – Tuition due in full by July 5, 2010.

2 Installments: $20 Enrollment Fee – Tuition due on July 5, 2010 and January 5, 2011. Payment amounts are as follows:

1 student $1362.50
2 students $2212.50
3 or more students $2787.50
Out of parish $2300 per student

4 Installments: $35 Enrollment Fee – Families may choose to pay on the 5th or 20th of the month in August, November, February and May.

10 Installments: $45 Enrollment Fee - Families may choose to pay monthly on the 5th or 20th. Installments will begin in August and continue through May. Monthly payment amounts are as follows:

20 Installments: $45 Enrollment Fee – Tuition is due monthly on the 5th and 20th of each month. Installments will begin in August and continue through May. *Option only available via auto-deduction* Twice a month payment amounts are as follows:

Families must sign up for tuition payments through Tuition Management Systems or TMS, a third party billing and collection service. The enrollment fee will be billed by TMS and due upon receipt in order to activate your family’s account. New families are required to complete a TMS form and return to the office with enrollment fee included. Check is to be made payable to "TMS."

In addition to tuition, registration fees are collected during enrollment each February. The current registration fees are $250 per child and a $25 per family PTO fee.

It is the policy of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish that no one will be denied a Catholic education based solely on their ability to pay. By the same token, we believe strongly that everyone should make some sacrifice. Financial assistance is available for those in need.
