GodSpell Junior
Musical Photo Gallery
Twenty–four sixth through eighth grade
students participated in the musical elective at Sacred Heart.
The musical chosen was Godspell Junior. During the first quarter,
these students met for forty minutes a day preparing to bring
Jesus’ teachings to life in action, dance and music.
Godspell Junior is a shorter adaptation
of the musical Godspell. It is designed to reach the younger
performers in a way that helps them live the gospel’s
teachings. Each scene is a parable or teaching from the Gospel
according to Matthew, and each song is an outreach of that
main teaching.
The cast/crew met the challenge of bringing to life Jesus’
messages with enormous talent and determination. Their display
of faith in His powerful message and sacrifice was evident
in the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the performances.
Luke Farnsworth, a 7th grader who played Jesus, said, “It
was a great experience! I learned more about God and the Bible.”
Abbie Krause, 7th grader who was also a cast member, added
that it was “a fun way to learn more about the Gospel
teachings.”
