Rooted in Christ

And next weekend April begins! I hope that spring break was restful and that routines return so that we can finish the fourth quarter strong.

The Catholic Parents as Stewards leads met recently to continue to plan for next year. There are some events in danger of not happening if we don’t get people to sign up to lead them (hint you can have sub-committees that do some of the work). They are the Mother/Son and Father/Daughter activities. We also need someone to help with the teacher appreciation things – lunch on conference days and teacher appreciation week in May. If you would like more information or have questions, please feel free to reach out to me and I will share your email with the leads. Many hands make light work, and these teams build up our SHOJ community.

As we returned from Spring Break, the State Testing window opened, and we plan to take these over the next few weeks (teachers will share the schedule for your child with you). As always, it is important to have the students well rested, on time and with a positive attitude.

I had an interesting conversation with a young person today. The child was upset that someone said something less than positive about a situation in class. As we talked, I began to hear that the student was maybe more disappointed in the action that got them signaled out than really caring about what the other said. Today, as the students were absolved from their sins during confession, I hope that the love Jesus has for them shines through. I also hope that we can move beyond disappointments and continue to grow as sometimes it is hardest to forgive ourselves.  Next week are the parish penance services and Sacred Hearts is Thursday, March 30.
