Hello Sacred Heart Families!
Welcome back to the 2023/24 school year! I hope it has started out well for you all and that your families are adjusting nicely into this new year, with new teachers and new subjects.
One thing that isn't so new, is the increased number of illnesses that occur when we gather a large group of people together, especially when we are stuck inside a lot of the day, due to extremely high temperatures outside. Our sick numbers are by no means overly concerning (today we are at 10 students and 2 staff out sick) but, it is prudent to be aware of some of the best practices to help stay healthy and prevent contracting a contagious illness.
Some ways to maintain health are:
1. Get adequate sleep
2. Daily physical exercise
3. Get outside as much as possible/reduce screen time
4. Eat a healthy and well balanced diet/take vitamins
5. Wash hands frequently and thoroughly
6. Help your child deal with stress and anxiety
7. Drink plenty of water/reduce sugary drinks
Additionally, please be aware that fall seasonal allergies have begun to cause symptoms. Please make plans now to manage allergy symptoms in your students that suffer from seasonal allergies.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding health and wellness here at SHOJ!
