Hello Sacred Heart families-

Mark your calendars! I will be conducting vision screens on all students on October 17th and 18th. I will be using a digital vision screener that is highly effective in detecting vision abnormalities. Vision Care Associates in Shawnee is gracious enough to allow me to borrow this high tech piece of equipment. Please make sure that your child has their prescription vision correction (contacts or glasses) with them for both of these days, as they will wear them for the screening. This will let us know if their current prescription is working effectively or not. If they have prescription eyewear and they don't have them in/on during the screening days, I will not screen. There is no need to wear blue light blocking glasses or any non prescription eyewear during the screen. If your student has an abnormal vision screen, I will send an email with the findings. If you do not hear from me, that means they passed the screen. As mentioned, I am borrowing this device and will only have access to it on October 17th and 18th, so if your student is absent for any reason on those two days, they will not be screened this year. If you have concerns about vision and your child doesn't get screened this year, I would recommend taking them to an eye doctor. Vision Care Associates in Shawnee is a wonderful option.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,

Nurse Mary
