Bring in cereal boxes Monday 12/8-Wednesday 12/10. All items will go to stock the Catholic Charities food pantry. Kindergarten-5th grade students should give items to their homeroom teachers. Middle School students should give their cereal boxes to their House Mentors.

Our preschool was filled with joy and gratitude last week as the wonderful parents came together to surprise both preschool teachers with beautiful wedding showers! Their thoughtfulness and love were a true reflection of Christ’s heart while celebrating the gift of marriage and the blessing of community. We are so thankful for the way these families continue to lift one another up in faith, joy, and love.

“It is hard to find words to convey the joy of the soul’s loving encounter with God, yet fine music is able to express something of the mystery of his love for us and ours for him.” Pope Benedict XVI October was a BUSY month for the Band and Orchestra program:. "Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses." Pope Paul VI Talk about witnesses.... Toward the top of the list of reasons to love these souls is that they practice the same sacrificial love towards each other that they share with their students. Each month, one staff team provides lunch for the everyone. This month it was the preschool, K-1st grade resource and teacher team. The love our staff pours into this endeavor is a reflection of who they are; an endless reservoir of goodness. God bless all teachers in whatever capacity they find themself serving. We are grateful for your witness!❤️

Why? I think the pictures tell the story! Thank you to Ashlee Tomasic and Anna Kumru- our Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO) Book Fair chairs. Through the generosity and support of an amazing community, over $600 worth of books were donated to Holy Family School in Kansas City, Kansas (see HFS teacher pic with books on the table). Sacred Heart received over $3,800 in Scholastic funds to use toward a variety of resources.

Thank you for building a community of readers!

Congrats to our SHOJ Scholars Bowl team and their Coach Janae Melvin! This squad came in 2nd place at the Saint James Academy Scholars Bowl. So much to be proud of with this awesome group of young men. It feels like a win for Sacred Heart to have Coach Janae Melvin doing what she does best- encouraging young people to dig deep, do their best and be proud of the results. This Forever Cardinal Mom's children have grown and flown to Bishop Miege, yet she brought the group together again. Congrats all the way around!

When you walk by the 5th grade reading classroom and you see what you never want to take for granted... Mrs. P's students reading a novel about Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. I ❤️ Catholic education. Thanks, Mrs. P for being an incarnation of the virtue of MAGNANIMITY in your teaching- to teach through stories and using the lives of the Saints as a pathway for our students to hear their own call to Sainthood.

Family Time Fifth grade teachers Mrs. Amie Pendergast and Mr. Craig Whalen are proud of their Faith Family leaders. The pictures capture a confident crew of young men and women who shared with their K-4 families a little about Sacred Heart's Unbound sponsored friends and taught them the five finger prayer. So beautiful to see these young souls growing in faith and virtue together.
