Hanging out with 2nd graders is like sitting in the middle of a field of wildflowers.
8th grade students shared their figurative language stories with 2nd grade friends this week. We always love to see the beauty of a K-8 education lived out in these experiences.

"A joyful heart is the health of the body."
Proverbs 17:22
This is a picture of a growing creation in the SHOJ Think Tank. It has become "a thing" so teachers are working around it.
One little artist drew Jimmy the Whale on the whiteboard in the Think Tank… Then one silly teacher added a seahorse named Kenny. Since then, anyone who visits here can see and add on to the goofy masterpiece! Teaching Middle Schoolers is a source of pure JOY.

This beautiful 6th grade soul wrote a poem and shared it with his dad, a Retired Army Veteran, at our Veterans Day celebration last week. I think his poem says it all. God bless our Veterans. God bless America.
"Soldier Spirit"
I thank you for your courage
And your love for the USA,
Your bravery will be nourished,
To today, tomorrow, and every day.
You fought in the trenches,
You fought in the night,
You, we will remember.
You're a soldier for life.
You've seen others fall.
You've seen others die.
Your spirit will live on forever.
Your soul will fly high.
Today is your day.
Be happy and proud.
We all love you.
Your courage stands out in a crowd.
Deacon Nicholas visited with the third graders about vocations. He stressed the importance of prayer in all vocations. He shared the importance of taking time to learn to pray when we are young because prayer is the foundation of all vocations. We should ask God in prayer how He is calling is to serve others. Over time and after practice we start to hear the voice of God in our minds and hearts. He also mentioned a 33 day silent retreat he went on many years ago which was very difficult for our busy little 3rd grade minds to comprehend! 😜
Thank you for sharing your vocation, Deacon.
Middle school students participated in the election process by voting for Pepsi or Coke. The students learned a lot about the electoral college and are ready to vote in a few short years.

See all you little saints tomorrow!

Miss J and Miss Turner- you bring the joy. Happy Halloween!
Another successful Trunk or Treat is in the books. Thank you to our Catholic Parents as Stewards for planning such an awesome family event. It was fun for children of all ages. We see you, Mr. Vergara.
"What is it like to be a Catholic?"
See how Mrs. Jaspersen's first grade class used pumpkins to answer this question. So thankful for teachers who infuse their love of the Catholic faith into activities that connect with the hearts of their students.
“The more ready you are to give yourself to God and to others, the more you discover the authentic meaning of life.” St. John Paul II
Our middle school JP II House got together with their elementary partners in second grade. They celebrated the feast day of Saint John Paul II with a little lesson, a little coloring, and a little treat. Saint John Paul II, pray for us.
