School parent and fantasy author Dakota Krout visited our Kindergarten-5th grade classrooms to discuss his career. What a joy as the students listened to his very animated reading of one of his novels where one of the characters is Catholic. God bless you for feeding the imagination in our students' hearts and minds!

SHOJ ❤️s Saint Agnes
We are grateful to the Porter family for donating their “Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck” (complete with our favorite barista, Rob Porter) so that we could share some love with the parish and school staff at Saint Agnes.
As Saint Agnes loves on their families during this challenging time, Sacred Heart shared some sweet treats and caffeine with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
And SHOJ got a special treat as well… zoom in and see the smiling face of our beloved Father Pat. Such peace in knowing he is able to shepherd them through this challenging time.
Christ. Be with us. Heal us.

The Way of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross, presented to the Sacred Heart community by our 8th graders, paired Bible verses with each of the Stations.
We are grateful to have our 8th graders minister to our youngest students by their witness of the final hours of the life of Jesus prior to his Crucifixion.

Congrats to our the SHOJ Scholars Bowl Team!
They came in 2nd Place at Bishop Miege Scholars Bowl today. We are so proud of them and SHOJ Parent/Coach Janae Melvin for her time and enthusiasm. So much to celebrate for these young men and women.
Bishop Miege High School, Thank you for hosting!

Happy Birthday, President George Washington!
Among all the facts students learned about Presidents through the years, I can't shake what George Washington told me. His teeth WEREN'T wooden- they were made (in part)from horse and cow teeth. WOW!
A great day for the Class of 2024 as they shared their knowledge with the visitors to the Presidential Wax Museum at Sacred Heart.

Five SHoJ students are spending the day in an all-day workshop for the All-Elementary State Honor Choir at the Kansas Music Educator Convention. They perform at the Century II Convention Center this evening at 5 pm. Out of 700+ auditions of 3rd-5th graders across Kansas, 170 students were selected from a blind audition.
So proud of these students as they share their God given gifts with others.

Rosary Club
Our Rosary Club met for the first time to learn how to make knotted Rosaries. In English class, we might call "knotted Rosaries" an oxymoron. Our Holy Mother is, indeed, the undoer of knots. Either way, we LOVE the joy on the faces of these children and their club sponsor, Mrs. Schierts.

Sacred Heart School received its Project ADAM Heart Safe School Designation yesterday. The team is fully certified and committed to weekly drills. God bless this staff for their commitment to serving the Lord by caring for His children.

Tell me you go to Catholic School without telling me you go to Catholic School. You gotta love THIS Valentine shared yesterday at one of the 1st grade Valentine's Day parties. Now that's love!

Here's the question: How much do you love your School Counselor?
Answer: How much time ya got?
If the setting doesn't answer the question, I don't know what does. Her credentials are impressive, but her mentor is a game-changer. An excellent counselor who leads with the love of the Holy Mother. Can't ask for more. God has blessed SHOJ with the gift of Mrs. Schierts.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”- St. Teresa Of Calcutta.
Thanks for all you do to create "ripples" for Christ! Happy Birthday!

Congrats to our spelling bee participants!
Our elementary and middle school students competed well in the annual spelling bee. Our winner and runner-up will represent Sacred Heart at the Johnson County Regional Spelling Bee at Bishop Miege. We are proud of all of them!

Wow! Teaching Kindergarten must be ROUGH! A little over five months ago, SHOJ had two fresh-faced Kindergarten teachers. Now look at them.
Oh...wait. It is the 100th day of school, and teachers and students are older and wiser. Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Rule, we could not be more grateful for the joy and enthusiasm you bring to your vocation.

Another fabulous Cardinal Carnival is in the books!
Kids (and Pastors) of all ages leaned into the joy of the moment as they celebrated the final event of Catholic Schools Week. Thanks to the Class of 2024 parents and students for making memories happen.

Insecurity.
During Catholic Schools Week, we continue the mission to share hope with those experiencing food insecurity. This picture sent to us by Catholic Charities features some of the over 1,100 jars of peanut butter SHOJ donated last month, which now appear on their pantry shelves. The other pic displays one of the eight Catholic Charities food barrels in the school this week as we collect pancake mix, pasta, rice, canned meat, oatmeal, canned fruit, and pasta sauce to continue to share hope with those in need.
God of mercy, make our hearts like yours.
