Hello Sacred Heart of Jesus Family! My name is Katie Crow and I am joining the team all the way from Florida where I taught at a public middle school. This year, I will be teaching Reading at the middle school level. I am excited for the opportunity to share not only my love for reading, but also my faith with my students. I look forward to the novels we will share together this year as we dive headfirst into literature. When not working, I enjoy taking long nature walks with my dog and playing board games with friends. Let's have a great year!

My name is Tristin Martin I was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have lived in different parts of the US including San Antonio, St. Paul Minnesota, and San Francisco California. I have also traveled the world for Catholic Mission work with NET and FOCUS ministries and took a trip to Ireland. I have a black lab named Piper and I am a huge dog lover! I am a convert to the Catholic faith. I grew to love my faith while attending Ball State University in Indiana at a Newman center. While serving as a missionary I grew very close to children of all ages. I realized then that I wanted to go back to school to become a teacher. I am now in a Masters of Education for Reading Specialist program at Fort Hays State University. I love being a teacher and am excited to be a part of the Sacred Heart of Jesus community!

Hi Sacred Heart of Jesus! My name is Patty Judd, and I am excited to be the new Kindergarten teacher! I just graduated from Benedictine College (go ravens!) with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I am so excited to begin my teaching career where I can share the love of Christ and my passion for reading with my students! Besides teaching, I love running, trying new recipes, and reading. I look forward to a great year!

Mr. Gaustad will be teaching middle school science this year. Here is his greeting: I am excited for the 2022-2023 school year to begin! I am thrilled to be back at Sacred Heart, as I finished my student teaching here last year. I will be teaching science in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I have the unique perspective of having been a Sacred Heart parishioner and parent before becoming a teacher, and there is nowhere else that I would rather be! I have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader, as well as a future Cardinal still at home. We have so many interesting science activities planned, and I cannot wait to see all of you!

Serve Day success! SHOJ students participated in our annual Serve Day in partnership with Catholic Charities of Northeast Ks. Students created care packages for people in need. From welcome home packages to help people moving into new homes, to food and hygiene packages with essentials, students spent time in service to others. We would like to especially thank our 8th grade graduates whose proceeds from the Cardinal Carnival earlier this year provided many of the items used in these packages. To learn more, go to https://catholiccharitiesks.org.

School of Faith visited and recorded a Rosary Meditation for their App/podcast with the Class of 2022. It brought it full circle after writing their own meditations which can be found on our website. It will likely be used in June - just need to listen for it each day! Sign up at HolyFamilySchool.com or find the app in the App Store. God bless you class of 2022! Never stop praying The Rosary.

Less than two weeks out from graduation, eighth graders took a field trip back to kindergarten. They asked thought-provoking questions of these sweet young souls like, “Describe a great day. What are you doing?” Their answers? “Going to church.” “Playing with my mom and dad.” “Seeing God.” Another question, “What makes you awesome?” Answer, “My jump roping.” It is often these simple joys that have the most profound impact on our souls.
