Our middle schoolers participated in their first House Competition: Chicken Baseball.
Who's in charge of the madness? 8th graders
The game:
1-Rock paper scissors to see who goes first.
2-Winning team chooses to throw or receive the chicken
3-The chicken is thrown and the other team runs after it
4-The throwing team has a designated runner making laps
5-Receiving team passes the chicken (left side, right side) to the end of the line.
6- Receiving team now launches the chicken.
The winner is the team that runs the most laps (see step 4)
Lots and lots and lots of laughter. Good stuff.

Sacred Heart volunteers are a constant reminder of God's varied grace. Megan and Christina, Catholic Parents as Stewards (CPS) Co-Leads, are in their third year of leadership. These pictures were BOTH taken today. The first pic is from this morning as they hosted Donuts With Dads, and they volunteered in the lunchroom later in the day. We are so thankful!

Even after a Writing quiz, a Social Studies test, and a day full of lessons, our resilient 8th grade leaders had more than enough left in the tank to spend time helping their 2nd grade buddies learn about St. Teresa of Calcutta and her many virtues. This class can spread the love of Christ on any day at any time. 8th graders were welcomed by the 2nd graders with some of the biggest smiles we’ve ever seen! We can’t wait to visit again. St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!

Father Zarse welcomed parents at last night's CPS meeting (Catholic Parents as Stewards) to draw deeper into our shared love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A packed house celebrated an amazing community of adults who are brought together to love and strengthen one another in our shared vocation as parents.

Our SHOJ Class of 2025 and 2026 Lemon Out Heroes!
Garrett was diagnosed with ALL leukemia when he was 2 years old. He endured 3 1/2 years of treatment. During that time his family could truly FEEL the prayers from the Sacred Heart community and so many others! They now have a special place on our hearts for St. Peregrine. It was a long and bumpy road, but Garrett is 7 years off treatment and remains cancer free!
Jackson was diagnosed with LCH when he was 3 yrs old. He went through 2.5 yr of chemo and steroid treatments. Even though we were new to Sacred Heart School we definitely felt the support and love from everyone. We said prayers to St Philomena and St. Jude during this time. Jackson is 12 now and in full remission and doing amazing!

Thank you, Sacred Heart Families, for your generous donations during enrollment to treat the staff at Sacred Heart to treats in the Teacher's Lounge. Though we don't often find our teachers lounging, we find that with snacks like these, they often have a smile on their face. Thank you also to our CPS volunteers who go to the store, haul the boxes in, load the refrigerator and break down the boxes after delivery.

On this day where we honor the contributions of America's workforce, we take a mini-pilgrimage to walk in the footsteps of the author of life who inspires our work: Jesus Christ.
Our resource staff is full of amazing professionals like Kim Dreiling, Speech Pathologist. This summer Mrs. Dreiling's sister Krista took her and Mrs. Dreiling's son on a big bday trip. Which birthday? Not her 21st or 30th or 40th or ... I'll stop there because I value our relationship. Have I shared too much already?
They flew to Athens, boarded the Norwegian Jewel and set sail to Kusadasi, Turkey. They visited the Virgin Mary's home where she lived after the death of her son and prior to her Assumption. They traveled to Bethlehem, Tel Aviv and other holy sites. Mrs. Dreiling's heart was consumed as she visited places that Jesus lived, suffered, died, and was resurrected. It brought her into Scripture in a whole new way. Thank you, Mrs. Dreiling, for sharing your journey with us. Want more? Just ask her. She is filled with excitement to share.
We pray that our own contributions through our work in whatever field God has called us to points back to Him.

Our 8th graders spent Thursday on a class retreat. It was a day full of inspiration and community. Thank you to all the 8th grade families, Mrs O'Dowd and Mrs Jones (8th grade homeroom teachers), Mr. Nguyen (religion), Jen Zans (Youth Ministry), Fr. Zarse, Dcn. Nicholas, Coach Tom Radke (SJA Football), Anneliese Feder and the amazing Saint James Academy Ministry Team. So many witnesses to God's love for our children. God blessed each moment of the day and we are so grateful!
