Sacred Heart Family-
If you know our music teacher, Mrs. Reynolds, you know how passionate she is about life. From her deep love of family to her childlike appreciation of Garfield, she fans the flames of faith and living life to the fullest in all she does. Her summer has been full of Garfield playdates, music camp, grandbaby lovin, enjoying nature, and it is definitely not summer for her without garden tomatoes. See the photo of “Team Bruce Surgery Support Squad.” Please hold her family in prayer as her husband Bruce recovers from heart surgery. Thanks be to God for surrounding our staff and our students with a beautifully gifted soul like Mrs. Reynolds!

As we anticipate the return to a new school year, our principal, Mrs. Rhodes, shares some of the blessings she has received in her role as a daughter, mother, and grandmother.
Her family celebrated the Ordination of her son, Father George Rhodes. See the joy on the faces of the Rhodes family on his Ordination day.
She and her family joined her siblings and their families as they celebrated the 80th birthdays of both her mother and father. She also revels in the joy of spending time with her first grandchild, baby Theo.
This appreciation of family inspired her to read a great book on developing virtue in the family. Looking forward to helping everyone - herself included -grow in virtue.

We hope that you have read many good books over the summer. There are great things happening in the library thanks to the fund the need auction donations. We don't want to spoil the surprise, but here are just some of the new books that will be on the shelves when you return!

I am so excited about the theme for this year, in addition to the focus on the real presence in the Eucharist, there will be a focus on growing in virtue. Virtues and the Eucharist help us grow closer to Christ. The school will be implementing Education in Virtue (to replace our social emotional learning/antibullying programs required by the state). This is going to help teachers, students and families as the language, practice and healthy habits will help us all recognize the innate goodness in everyone and establish a culture for all to flourish with Christ. In Gal 2:20 “In His Eucharistic presence he remains mysteriously in our minds as the one who loved us and gave himself up for us.” What better to prepare minds for the future and souls for eternity?

It's July! School will be starting again before we know it! Get a head start and save a trip to the store all at the same time! Get all your school supplies in one easy step! https://5il.co/1yxl2

We can all think of a Bible verse that speaks to us more than others. For 8th grader Ellie Nichols, Philippians 4:13 gives her strength. Listen as she shares how this verse gives her strength in every area of her life! https://school.shoj.org/page/rosary-reflections

Have you ever heard of Sister Clare Crockett? Get to know her in this beautiful Rosary reflection by 8th grader Viviane Kuttenkuler. https://school.shoj.org/page/rosary-reflections

"O Jesus, make our hearts like Yours."
Happy Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus! May our patron increase our love for His heart and help us understand and accept God's unconditional love for each of us. Join us for Mass at 11 or Adoration, Benediction and social at 4 today.

Is that Mr. Whalen flying an airplane? A couple staff members attended Garmin's Educator Summit to keep learning over the summer. We hope you are reading and learning too!

Happy Summer. Just a reminder that preorders for supplies are due June 1. https://my.cheddarup.com/c/sacred-heart-school-supplies-2023?cart=f6fb1f08-fb0f-41ad-8f44-2be665e1175a%21%2155411687

EMBRACE Fundraiser: The mission of EMBRACE is to provide the opportunity for an inclusive education by supporting children with disabilities and learning differences in their Catholic schools. SHOJ has benefited from EMBRACE grants in training our staff to serve ALL students.

The confetti is still falling for the Class of 2023! We miss these faces in our halls. Grateful for our yesterdays together and excited for what God has planned for their tomorrows. Cheers to these students and their amazing families!

This year’s 8th graders wrote Rosary reflections in the style of the Holy Family School of Faith Rosary podcast. Grab your Rosary and pray along with Elaina Vomdemkamp as she reflects on Easter! https://school.shoj.org/page/rosary-reflections

It was a full house in board game elective today. Students could ask a buddy to come along. Chess matches, Connect 4 tourneys, and “What do you meme?” family edition. Felt like SHOJ family game night with 29 students practicing our class mantra: Play Nice. Win Nice. Lose Nice.

Just a reminder about celebrating this amazing teacher today in the
meeting rooms.

Chicken with a chicken?!? What has happened to the lunch program? Thanks to Deacon Nicholas, the Bollinger and Boor families for this great Brown Bottle Auction class party item. Raising Canes does not disappoint!

Mom and dad walked their 4th SHOJ graduate in for his (almost) last day of school. Families like these create the culture that we think of when we say “I love Sacred Heart!” Thanks to our SH families: the first teachers of the Faith.

Thursday we had a chance to celebrate our volunteers. Sacred Heart is beyond blessed by these beautiful souls. Father gave a blessing to all those in attendance, and many were able to stay after for coffee and donuts. Those here and so many others gather together to share in the mission of loving and serving at the school named for His Most Sacred Heart. We are grateful.

Sacred Heart students were busy wrapping up activities with end of year celebrations. Strings and band students participated in the SJA concert. Sacred Heart Church’s CYO celebrated all of its coaches and players Tuesday night. Special recognition was given to these 5 athletes for participating in all 3 seasons of CYO sports during 5th-8th grades. Their names are added to the plaque of Jim Finley Award winners. Jim Finley was the long time athletic director at Sacred Heart and created the foundation of our school’s program.
