EMBRACE Fundraiser: The mission of EMBRACE is to provide the opportunity for an inclusive education by supporting children with disabilities and learning differences in their Catholic schools. SHOJ has benefited from EMBRACE grants in training our staff to serve ALL students.

We celebrated our dedicated admins yesterday who help us in so many ways.

Kindness matters. Our counselor, Mrs. Schierts, hosted a reception full of friendly neighbors, thoughtful family friends, carpool buddies, encouraging coaches, and caring teachers who were nominated for Kindest Kansas Citian by Sacred Heart students. One nominee even sent in a video because she is out of the country and wanted to make sure the student who nominated her knew how special she was. We come to know Christ through others. Thanks to our KKC nominating students for affirming goodness in others. We are so blessed!

We are looking forward to celebrating our Kindest Kansas Citian nominees and their nominators this Wednesday, April 26th in the church meeting rooms from 3:30-4:00. You should have received an invite last week from Mrs. Schierts. If you have questions, please reach out. Also, mark your calendars because we are looking forward to celebrating Mrs. Macan’s retirement with an Open House on Saturday, May 13th from 2-4:15 in the church meeting rooms. Look for an invite and sign up genius this week.

Thank you to the volunteers, administrators, teachers, and Park Lanes in Shawnee for hosting this wonderful group of middle school bowlers. Imagine being on a House team that scored in 1st place with an average of 72. It is about the community and friendship on a beautiful gift of a day. God is so good to us and the evidence is in these smiling faces.

Middle School Music Elective Students planned a dance party for our morning exercise club. It was a fabulous idea. Thanks Mrs. Reynolds and students - it was a big hit!

Faith Families gathered to create He Is Risen windsocks. They talked about the fact that Easter is far from over. It won’t end until after school does …at Pentecost! Our 5th graders were gentle, patient, and kind to their Faith family members. Love our Sacred Heart community!

A glorious evening for 8th grade Confirmation. Thanks to Archbishop Naumann, Abbott James Albers, Fr. Pat Sullivan, Jen Zans, and all of the parents, teachers, volunteers, Confirmandi, and sponsors. The Holy Spirit has blessed these young souls through their sacraments. Zoom in for a then and now of a few of the young men at their First Eucharist. It seems like just yesterday as the journey of the Class of 2023 nears completion.

Happy Easter! The beauty of a K-8 school is seen in moments like this when grade levels mix for special projects. The students in the cooking elective made Resurrection Rolls with kindergarten.

Getting healthy at SHOJ! Every morning the students can get in a quick workout from 7:35 to 7:50. Thanks to the wellness committee for sponsoring!

I hear people say all the time that their teenagers are obsessed with gaming. I am not sure what the problem is. Chess? Yahtzee? Qwirkle? Our new Board Game has the following rules: Play Nice. Win Nice. Lose Nice. Love to watch these kids at play!

It was Embrace Day. There were activities around school learning about ability differences and a raffle to support Embrace Foundation's mission of supporting all students in Catholic Schools.

Please RSVP by tomorrow for the Mother Son event. It helps so much to have numbers to ensure that it’s a successful event.

Below is part of Kathryn's winning Serra Club Essay. We are so proud on a daily basis of all that our students do, it is edifying that others see their efforts as well. Thanks to the Serra Club for the wonderful luncheon and recognition. "Priests, Sisters, Deacons, and Brothers are necessary for the mission of the Catholic Church because they are God’s presence here on Earth and help to spread the word of God to many people. They each have their own role in the Catholic Community to help spread the word of God. Priests, Sisters, Deacons, and Brothers, in their daily lives, show us how to lead a better Catholic life in what they do. They also show us how to bring God into our daily lives to be better Catholics. They are essential to the Catholic Church because they are God's presence here on Earth."

"There’s no place like home! There’s no place like home!” The sights and sounds of All School Mass back in our church. Lord, thank for Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. We are blessed by a church community that provides such a glorious space to celebrate The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. videos will be posted on FB only.

Hello 4th Quarter! Today we reflected on the virtues learned and practiced during the 3rd Quarter. We ended with a school musical chairs game and update on house points. It is going to be a great 4th quarter.

Start looking ahead to summer youth mission trips and other travel opportunities with SHOJ!

What does it require to pull off a successful last day of school before spring break at Sacred Heart? It starts with a servant’s heart. These parents are a gift to our community as they surrendered their plans and gave their time at school today helping us pull off a glorious Serve Day, all in His holy name. SHOJ parent volunteers, we cherish you! The students, who served with their hands and hearts. The parish who supports the school and allowed the students a sneak peek at the church enhancements. And of course the teachers who managed a schedule of a crazy day, ending with the talent show. Thanks again for all the support for Happy Hearts working which put three staff in a lake Saturday morning. Have a blessed spring break everyone!

The “Cats” in these hats, Mrs. Diel and Mrs. Coup, teach our Cooking elective and have kept us in full swing celebrating Seuss Week. Check out their Cooking elective students as they made their own ice cream on their last day of class for the 3rd quarter on Wednesday.
